Publications » Vol. 15: Joshua Johnson’s Letterbook, 1771-1774 Letters from a Merchant in London to his Partners in Maryland
Edited by JACOB M PRICE
Joshua Johnson, the London partner of an Annapolis merchant firm, sent his associates unusually long, expository letters explaining how buying and selling and credit were best managed in eighteenth-century London. The candour and pedagogical quality of the correspondence published here make it an extremely useful source for historians of the commercial practice and ethos of the time.
