Vol. 7: The Cartulary Of Holy Trinity, Aldgate image

Edited by GERALD A J HODGETT
This volume includes charters and other documents from the Augustinian priory of Holy Trinity (also known as Christ Church), important both for the topography and for the social and economic history of medieval London. It was written by Thomas de Axbridge between 1425 and 1427, and he tells us that he arranged his work according to parishes and listed the property of the house held in each parish with the names of tenants. Documents cover the period between 1042 and 1426 and narrative passages form an integral part of the cartulary.
